John Sargeant's 56 210 Sedan

Hi Vince
Heres pics of my 57 2 door 210 sedan, thought you could compare rust & holes !  Looks pretty good in the 1st pic, when I got it 3 years ago & they say the camera never lies. This 1 did, when you look at the rusty pics. Why have 1 boot floor, when you can have 3, 1 on top of the other & all of them full of holes. Then I decided to get serious. The upside down pic is when me & my son, Aaron took the body off & put it on a rottiserie (very scary when we turned it upside down for the 1st time). Took 6 months to strip 6 layers of paint & filler off, by hand grinders, finding loads of filler & some rust. The last pic is where I am now, the car is solid after new floor panels & loads of bodywork. Hopefully it will be back on the road sometime late this year. Many mods including r & p steering, ididit column, 383sbc & th400r, mini tubbed rear end & a few other touches to make nice. I will update you soon.
Cheers

The following pics and update from Bernie Daniels.....

I bought the car in 1998 and it was pretty sorry looking then! It had been sat in a leaky garage since 1985 after demolishing the back end of a Granada. The impact had buckled the right hand frame rail in 3 places and pushed it back about 5 inches, luckily the body mounts were rotten so they tore off without twisting the shell too badly.

I started collecting pieces for it over the next 5 years but couldn't move forward with the chassis until one evening about 18 months ago Vince knocked on my door… the deal was done and Vince had the backend of my old bent chassis for his '56 Pro street, I had his nice straight chassis for my '57 and the rebuild was finally underway!

 The spec so far:-

Front end, 2 inch dropped spindles with S10 disc brakes & -3 inch coil springs

Rear end, fully rebuilt stock '57 axle on Posey -3 inch springs & -3 inch blocks.

Gearbox is a re-con TH350, Engine is a 283ci fully rebuilt with a 300hp Corvette hydraulic cam and 3 Rochester 2Gs.

The body's getting a new floor, inner and outer sills, rear quarters and repairs just about everywhere else!

Hopefully it'll be back on the road next year.

 Cheers

Bern

Heres some pics of the wreck of the old 57,as you can see its very rusty!,after years of neglect theres no sills the chassis is through and there is little strength except in the firewall.I have lots of parts some good some from other cars and some cut to go with the disasterous roof chop!,why do it?.I used to see this car 28 years ago on the train into London on flat tyres then it appeared in custom car magazine on the road and in use.The car was stretched in Sweden for the Belgian embassy by all accounts and was intended to be a kit manufactured for limo builders but as far as anybody knows this is the only one.   Brian Morris.

hi vince, hope these come out ok? starting off with pictures of collecting on the transporter, various stages of paint stripping and fixing, dummying up of the big block, plus pictures of the engine prior to fitting ( next stage after i put the front suspension back on ) bulkhead colour is not the overall colour, just enables me to put the car back together while trying to make my mind up...  kev
